Brightside for Families & Children

Ways of Giving

There are many ways to support the work of Brightside.

Special Campaigns

Special campaigns support renovating, upgrading and expanding facilities. This enables us to continue delivering quality care with a state-of-the-art facility to meet the growing needs of the community.

Added Benefits of Giving

Depending upon your age and the type of asset you wish to contribute, your gift may have added benefits to you. We will work with you to find the most beneficial way for you or your loved ones to support our work.
If you itemize deductions on your tax return, you are entitled to a deduction for the full amount of your gift. The deduction allowed for a cash gift in any one year is limited to 50% of your adjusted gross income. Any amount in excess of the 50% ceiling can be carried forward and deducted anytime up to five additional years.
Some of our gift vehicles enable you to support Brightside beyond what you might be able to give as an outright cash gift. You may want to consider one of the following options:

Making A Gift of Cash

This is the easiest and most common way to support Brightside. Checks may be made payable directly to Brightside or to the program of your choice.

Joining Providence Circle

By making a pledge of at least $1,000 per year for 5 years, you will become a member of the Providence Circle, helping us to honor the legacy of our founding Sisters. We will include you in special events throughout the year to keep you informed of our progress.

Making A Gift of Appreciated Securities

If you have appreciated securities and have held them for more than 12 months, you will benefit in two ways by giving them as a gift. You can claim a charitable income tax deduction for the full value of your shares, and you can avoid the capital gains tax that would be due if you sold the shares. In claiming a tax deduction, you are limited to 30% of your adjusted gross income in the year of the gift. Any amount exceeding the contribution ceiling can be carried over for up to five additional years.

Creating a Charitable Gift Annuity

You can transfer cash or securities to Brightside and receive a lifetime annuity payment from your gift. The rate of return is based on your age and the number of annuitants (generally, the donor and the donor's spouse). Your deduction may be claimed in the year of your gift up to the previously mentioned contribution ceilings.

Giving a Life Insurance Policy

A life insurance policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose can be a meaningful contribution to make to Brightside. Simply ask your life insurer for a Designation of Beneficiary form. To make an irrevocable transfer that will receive gift credit, you must name Brightside both beneficiary and owner. You will receive gift credit for the cash surrender value of the policy and may claim that value as an income tax deduction in the year of the transfer. In general, Brightside will redeem the policy for its cash value and direct the proceeds to the facility or to the program of your choice.

Considering A Gift Through Your Will

Brightside will honor your intentions to provide a charitable gift through your bequest to the facility or to the program of your choice, and offer you recognition during your lifetime.

Matching Gift

Many employers match the gifts their employees make to Brightside. Please check with your employer to see if your company has a charitable contribution matching gifts program. If so, you may double or triple your gift simply by completing a form available at your workplace.
